Abstract:Objective: To gain a deep understanding of patients' needs for services provided by medical caregivers, to build a theoretical framework and practical operational plan for the standardized management of medical caregivers, clarify the job responsibilities of medical caregivers, ensure the quality of patients' disease care, and standardize the service quality of medical caregivers. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted, selecting medical caregivers from a tertiary A hospital in Wujin District, Changzhou City and its nursing alliance as the research subjects in October 2023 to January 2024. Questionnaires including general information, moral disengagement scale, burnout scale, and caring ability scale were used to investigate the medical caregivers. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of the caring ability of medical caregivers. Results: A total of 119 questionnaires were distributed, and 117 were recovered, with an effective recovery rate of 98.21%. The caring ability score of 117 medical caregivers was (189.42±24.98), the burnout score was (69.21±21.37), and the moral disengagement score was (44.77±17.12). The single-factor analysis showed that the influencing factors of the caring ability of medical caregivers included whether they were satisfied with their current job, gender, whether they had received training as medical caregivers, whether they held a medical caregiver certificate, monthly income, burnout, and moral disengagement (P<0.05). Both burnout scores and moral disengagement scores were negatively correlated with caring ability scores (P<0.001). The multiple linear regression analysis showed that the influencing factors of the caring ability of medical caregivers were burnout, moral disengagement, gender, and whether they were satisfied with their current job (P<0.05). Conclusion: The level of caring ability of medical caregivers is at a moderate level. Burnout, moral disengagement, satisfaction with the current job, and gender are influencing factors of the caring ability of medical caregivers. Reducing burnout among medical caregivers, improving their moral standards, and increasing job satisfaction can help enhance their caring ability.
