Abstract:Objective: To analyze the latent types of death anxiety in nursing students and their influencing factors. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to randomly select 632 nursing students from a university. Data were collected using a general information questionnaire and a death anxiety scale. Based on latent profile analysis, the types of death anxiety in nursing students and the influencing factors of different types were identified. Results: The score of the death anxiety scale for nursing students was (42.98±6.58). Latent profile analysis revealed two latent types: low death anxiety - fearless type (12.7%) and high death anxiety - fear type (87.3%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that liking the nursing profession, having discussed death topics at home, discussing death topics with classmates, and the school offering death education courses were significant influencing factors of death anxiety in nursing students (all P < 0.05). Conclusion: There is heterogeneity in the death anxiety of nursing students, who can be divided into two latent categories: low death anxiety - fearless type and high death anxiety - fear type. Relevant institutions should pay attention to the death anxiety of nursing students and improve death education courses according to the influencing factors of different types, so as to help nursing students gain a deeper understanding of death and alleviate their death anxiety.
