Abstract:Objective: Based on the unpleasant symptom theory, this study explored the influencing factors of cancer-related fatigue in patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy, and analyzed the role of psychosocial factors. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to select 258 patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy in the Department of Oncology at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University as the research subjects. Questionnaires were administered using a general information survey form, the Cancer Fatigue Scale, the Chinese version of the Perceived Stress Scale, and the Perceived Social Support Scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software and the Process 4.1 plugin. Results: The total score for cancer-related fatigue in patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy was 28.50 (21.75, 36.00), and 227 patients (87.98%) were in a state of fatigue. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that perceived social support, perceived stress, tumor stage, and age were the main influencing factors of cancer-related fatigue in patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy (P < 0.05). Mediation effect testing showed that perceived social support had a mediating effect between perceived stress and cancer-related fatigue, with a mediation effect value of 0.182, accounting for 35.97% of the total effect. Conclusion: The incidence of cancer-related fatigue is high among patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Nurses should pay attention to the pathways affecting cancer-related fatigue in these patients and implement effective intervention strategies based on these pathways. By reducing perceived stress and enhancing perceived social support, the cancer-related fatigue of patients can be improved.
