Abstract:Objective: To understand the current research status, hotspots, and frontiers in the field of diabetic neuropathy, so as to provide references for future research in this area. Methods: Using the Web of Science Core Collection as the data source, literature related to diabetic neuropathy published in the past 10 years were systematically retrieved, and VOSviewer and CiteSpace, two visualization analysis tools, were used to analyze the included literature. Results: A total of 4,471 papers were included in this study, including 3,734 original studies and 737 reviews, from 4,927 institutions in 112 countries or regions, published in 1,076 journals. The countries, institutions, authors, and journals with the highest number of publications were China, the University of Manchester, Malik R. A. from Qatar, and Journal of Diabetes and its Complications, respectively. The research hotspots focused on diabetic peripheral neuropathy, neuropathic pain, and diabetic foot ulcers. Conclusion: Future research in the field of diabetic neuropathy should further expand the search scope, and conduct more comprehensive analyses on the pathogenesis of diabetic neuropathy, spinal cord stimulation therapy, and machine learning.
