Abstract:Objective: To explore the effectiveness of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in the perioperative care of patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) undergoing multilevel radiofrequency ablation. Methods: A total of 82 OSAHS patients who received multilevel radiofrequency ablation between December 2022 and December 2023 were selected. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table, with 41 cases in each group. The control group received routine perioperative nursing care, while the observation group received FMEA-based perioperative nursing care on top of the control group's care. The psychological status, coping styles, incidence of complications, and surgical outcomes were compared between the two groups. Results: After nursing, the scores of the Self-Perceived Burden Scale (SPBS) and the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group; after nursing, the 'Confrontation' score in the Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire (MCMQ) was higher in the observation group, while the 'Avoidance' and 'Yield' scores were lower. The complication rate in the observation group (4.88%) was lower than that in the control group (21.95%). At 4 weeks post-surgery, the hypopnea index and snoring index in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Applying FMEA in the perioperative care of OSAHS patients undergoing multilevel radiofrequency ablation can improve patients' psychological status and coping styles, reduce the incidence of complications, and further enhance the surgical outcome.
