Abstract:Objective: To analyze the current status, research hotspots, and development trends of the correlation between gut microbiota and type 2 diabetes in the past 10 years, providing a reference for researchers in this field. Methods: Literature related to gut microbiota and type 2 diabetes published between January 1, 2013, and May 1, 2024, was retrieved from Web of Science (WOS) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). CiteSpace 6.3.R1 software was used to analyze the number of publications, countries, institutions, authors, and keywords in the field of gut microbiota and type 2 diabetes. Results: A total of 1,533 papers were included in WOS and 501 papers in CNKI. The number of publications showed an overall upward trend. Research hotspots in this field include mechanisms of action, genomics technology, metformin, probiotics, traditional Chinese medicine treatment, and fecal microbiota transplantation. Traditional Chinese medicine and 16S rRNA gene sequencing are the latest research frontiers. Conclusion: The mechanisms of action between type 2 diabetes and gut microbiota, traditional Chinese medicine and other treatment methods, and multi-omics approaches are trends for further research.
