Application of clustered evidence-based nursing in enteral nutrition support for adult ECMO patients

Abstract：Objective:To retrospectively analyze the application of clustered evidence-based nursing in enteral nutrition support for adult patients undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO).Methods:62 ECMO patients admitted to Qingyuan People's Hospital from November 2021 to October 2023 were selected as the research subjects.The patients were divided into an observation group(n=32)and a control group(n=30)according to their admission bed number.The control group received routine nursing interventions,while the observation group received clustered evidence-based nursing interventions on top of the control group.After 7 days of intervention,analyzed and compared the nutritional levels,acute physiology and chronic health(APACHE)Ⅱ scores,pressure injuries,feeding intolerance,and calorie adherence situation of the two groups of patients before and after intervention.Results:After intervention,the nutritional level and APACHE Ⅱ score of the observation group patients were significantly better than those of the control group(P＜0.05).During the nursing intervention period,both groups of patients experienced varying degrees of pressure injuries,but the observation group had significantly less pressure injuries than the control group(P＜0.05).The feeding intolerance of the observation group was better than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.001).The observation group had a higher rate of meeting the heat card standard than the control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(P＞0.05).Conclusion:Clustered evidence-based nursing can significantly improve the nutritional status of ECMO adult patients,prevent stress injuries,reduce APACHE Ⅱ scores,and also have a certain impact on feeding intolerance and calorie adherence rate of patients with nutritional support.
