Abstract:Objective:To explore the memory improvement effect of serious games on elderly patients with cognitive dysfunction by Meta-analysis.Methods:Related studies on the memory improvement effect of serious games on elderly patients with cognitive impairment were retrieved from PubMed,EMbase,MedLine, the Cochrane Library,SinoMed,CNKI,and WanFang Database. The retrieval time was from the inception to March 2024.Two reviewers screened the literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and extracted data, assessed the quality of included studies independently.Meta-analysis was conducted by RevMan 5.3 and GRADE were used for evidence quality rating. Results:A total of 20 studies were included, with a sample size of 1 439 cases.Serious games could improved verbal memory(SMD=0.42,95%CI 0.19-0.66,Z=3.51,P=0.000 5),spatial memory(SMD=0.32,95%CI 0.15-0.50,Z=3.68,P=0.000 2),working memory(SMD=0.32,95%CI 0.13-0.51,Z=3.36,P=0.000 8),short-term memory(SMD=0.47,95%CI 0.25-0.70,Z=4.09,P<0.000 1)and delayed recall(SMD=0.62,95%CI 0.43-0.80,Z=6.44,P<0.000 01)in elderly patients with cognitive impairment. Conclusion:Current evidence shows that serious games have the potential to improve verbal memory, spatial memory, working memory,short-term memory and delayed recall in older adults with cognitive impairment.Clinical nursing staff can refer to the results of this study, and actively carry out serious game intervention to improve the memory function of elderly patients with cognitive impairment.
