Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the effect of Otago exercise in patients with fear of falling. Methods:Computerized search of the CNKI,WanFang Database,VIP,CBM,Web of Science,PubMed,CINAHL,the Cochrane Library,EMbase, and Scopus databases for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on the efficacy of Otago exercise in patients with fear of falling. The search timeframe was from the construction of the library to June 2023.The risk of bias evaluation criteria for RCTs in the Cochrane Collaboration were used for methodological quality assessment, and Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software. Results:A total of 6 RCTs were included.Meta-analysis showed that after the intervention using Otago exercise, the test group had a Modified Falls Efficacy Scale score(MD=9.57,95%CI 7.37-11.78,P<0.000 01),Berg Balance Scale score(MD=5.52,95%CI 4.32-6.73,P<0.000 01),Mini Balance Assessment System Test score(MD=2.12,95%CI 1.23-3.01,P<0.000 01)and Timed Up and Go Test Score(MD=-2.69,-3.44--1.94,P<0.000 01)were better than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant. Conclusions:Otago exercises increase fall efficacy and improve balance and functional mobility in patients with fear of falling, contributing to the prevention and reduction of falls in patients with fear of falling.
