Abstract:In recent times, there has been a considerable increase in the utilization of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)within the domain of electric vehicles(EVs).In addressing the issue of low metal selectivity in the recycling of spent LIBs,this study proposes an extraction system based on an ionic liquid. The selection of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium perchlorate([EMIm][ClO4])as the leaching agent has been demonstrated to facilitate the efficient recovery of lithium and iron from lithium iron phosphate(LiFePO4).The experimental findings demonstrate that, under conditions of pH=2.00,an acid-to-ore(A/O)ratio of 1∶1,and a volume ratio of[EMIm][ClO4]to tributyl phosphate(TBP)of 3∶7,the leaching rate of lithium can reach 95.04%,and that of iron can reach 92.49%.Through precipitation combined with sulfuric acid stripping, the ionic liquid is regenerated and can be reused.Following the completion of five cycles, the leaching rates continue to exceed 90%.In comparison with conventional acid leaching methodologies, this approach offers certain advantages, including high selectivity, environmental sustainability, and recyclability.Consequently,it provides a novel perspective for the green recycling of spent lithium iron phosphate batteries.
