Abstract:The forces experienced during parallel pipe jacking are highly complex. In order to investigate the characteristics of pipe-soil contact pressure changes caused by construction activities, this paper takes the tunnel excavation and pipe jacking construction of the DBO project of Zhongyoufang Wastewater Treatment Plant in Hefei as the technical background. It uses on-site monitoring data to investigate the patterns of influence on pipe-soil contact pressure resulting from the simultaneous construction of multiple rows of pipes. In addition,a numerical analysis model of pipe jacking is constructed using ABAQUS software. The model evaluates the effect of increased jacking distance on the change in pipe-soil contact pressure when a single pipe is jacked.A comparison and analysis of the numerical simulation data and the field monitoring data is then carried out.The results of the analysis show that as the jacking distance increases, the change in soil pressure around the pipe has a relatively flat profile, initially decreasing and then stabilizing. It is typical that the contact pressure between the pipe and the ground at the bottom of the pipe section exceeds that at the top,due to the dead weight of the pipe section. The comparison between the numerical simulation and the on-site monitoring results is remarkable for its similarity. The results of this research can serve as a reference for the analysis of pipe-soil contact pressure in similar parallel pipe jacking construction processes.
