Abstract:The pipe jacking method is one of the trenchless underground construction methods that has the potential to exert influence on surrounding soil during advancement. When such impacts become significant, they may potentially endanger adjacent buildings or structures. This paper employed MIDAS/GTS three-dimensional finite element software to simulate and analyze the entire construction process of pipe jacking construction beneath the approach bridge of Yangtze River Bridge in a specific area. The study investigated surface settlement variations, deformation characteristics of pipe jacking structures, and their impacts on the bridge. The results indicate that the maximum surface settlement reached approximately 0.57 mm,concentrated in the ground area near the launching shaft. The bridge exhibited uniform and minimal overall settlement, meeting design requirements. This research provides a scientific basis for formulating special protection schemes for pipe jacking construction beneath bridge approach structures.
