Abstract：In the early 20th century ,Herbart's five step method teaching theory was introduced into China through various channels .Because of the practicality and operability of the theory ,it was applied to fit in the new education reform in the late Qing Dynasty ,and related practical application .The practice reached its climax in the early years of Republic of China .This teaching method and theory have promoted the study and experiment of teaching method in early modern China ,and have contributed to the establish-ment of modern scientific teaching theory and system .
