An Investigation of the Northern Song Dynasty's Repairs and Maintenance of Quebei

Abstract：In the Northern Song Dynasty ,the government made several times of repairs and mainte-nance to Quebei ,an irrigation project built in China's Spring and Autumn Period .During the years of Ming-dao ,a very severe drought struck Shouzhou area .Zhang Zhi was appointed as a county magistrate of An-feng County and had made a great achievement in rescuing the victims and making repairs to Quebei ,while Li Ruogu ,the governor in charge of Shouzhou ,took measures to punish those unscrupulous rich landlords . In the years of Huangyou ,Zhang Gongyi also made remarkable improvement to Quebei when he was in of-fice in Anfeng County ,for which Wang Anshi wrote a complimentary article .In the third year of Xining , Liu Jin again made proposal to repair Quebei ,unfortunately the plan was not carried out .
