An Analysis of the Theory of Productive Forces of Contemporary Western Marxists

Abstract：In the process of defending and rebuilding Marx's theory of history ,contemporary western Marxists have also carried on research and analysis of Marx's theory of productive forces when interpreting relevant works of Marx and Angels .Their studies center on three major aspects :defense and denial of "pro-ductive force determinism";new interpretations of the interrelations of productive forces and production re-lations ;new interpretations of the relationship between science and technology and productivity .They are both reflections on Marx's theory of productive forces and classic judgment and on the demand of the devel-opment of the times .The theories of contemporary western Marxists have developed their thought on pro-ductive forces ,fitting for present demand .Though with some limitations ,they have supplemented and ex-panded the content of Marx's original theory ,bringing the spirit of the times to it .
