Experimental Studies on the Load Capacity of Reinforced Concrete Beams with Partial Length Corrosion
Abstract:Accelerated corrosion experiments were performed on partial length (such as mid-span and end zone) of tensile longitudinal rebars in reinforced concrete (RC) beams in order to simulate the real conditions, then mechanical properties and deformation properties of these partially corroded beams were tested. Experimental results indicate that the load capacity of partially corroded RC beams decreases with rebars' corrosion ratio, and the deflection increases and stiffness degradation appears at the same time. For RC beams with same corrosion degree, load capacity of beams corrodes at the mid-span decrease more than that beams corrodes at the end zone. But the section deformation still basically meets the plane section assumption.
