Abstract:A novel efforescence inhibitor(CuCl2·2H2O)was reported in this paper. Its strengthening mechanism on cement mortar was investigated by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS).The results show that the calcium hydroxide[Ca(OH)2]produced in the initial stage of cement hydration is consumed by Cupric chloride dihydrate(CuCl2·2H2O),which can suppress the phenomenon of efflorescence in cement mortar, promote the later hydration of tricalcium silicate(C3S)and dicalcium silicate(C2S)in cement, thus enhancing the compressive strength of cement mortar.
