Abstract:This paper analyzed an ultra-low energy office building in hot summer and cold winter zone of China, with the building layout and high-performance envelope structure system that efficiently utilizes natural energy, and carried out a practice of improving the performance of variable enclosure structure. When using variable envelope for exterior walls during summer, the in-door free floating temperature is generally maintained around 30℃,requiring air conditioning to ensure indoor comfort. The exterior surface temperature of the wall exceeds 50℃,while the interior surface temperature is remained below 30℃,resulting in a temper-ature difference of 20℃.The results of employing variable envelope structure in hot summer and cold winter zone can effectively reduce the interior surface temperature of exterior walls during summer the comfortable indoor working environments are created while simultaneously building energy consumption is reduced.
