Abstract:This study systematically elucidated the phase evolution mechanisms of magnesium slag-based materials during sin-tering-carbonation processes and their carbonation properties. Results revealed that γ-C2S and β-C2S in raw magnesium slag served as dominant mineral phases, whose high carbonation activity and appropriate water-binder ratio underpinned its superior mechanical properties and carbon sequestration capacity.However,high-temperature sintering(1250~1350 ℃)induced phase reconstruction,par-tially transforming γ/β-C2S into C3S2 and low-reactivity Mg-Si-Ca phases, leading to significant deterioration in carbonation efficiency and compressive strength. After sintering modification of magnesium slag with sandstone(0~15%),the degradation of carbonization performance was intensified through a dual pathway, which suppressed the generation of γ/β-C2S and promoted the"Akermanite quartz"dual-phase blocking effect, reducing the proportion of carbonate products and causing simultaneous attenuation of carbon se-questration and compressive strength.
