Abstract:The mitigation effect of silica sol on thermal damage of steam-cured concrete in mechanical properties, water permeability porosity, frost resistance and sulfate resistance was studied. In addition, the chemical composition and microstructure of hydration products were analyzed by XRD and SEM.The results show that the steam cured-sample with 0.8%silica sol has higher early mechanical properties, and the later strength loss is much lower than that of the steam-cured sample without silica sol.The addition of silica sol can effectively reduce the increase of permeable porosity, mass loss and relative dynamic elastic modulus loss after freeze-thaw cycles caused by steam curing.XRD and SEM analysis showed that the addition of silica sol promoted the formation of secondary hydration products, adjusted the distribution and aggregation state of hydration products, and made the microstructure of concrete more regular and dense.
