Abstract:Potassium magnesium phosphate cement(MKPC)is a new type of early strength and fast hardening cement-based material. It has many advantages such as high early strength, few volume shrinkage and excellent durability. Therefore,MKPC have been widely used in emergency repair and construction, solid waste treatment and so on.MgO is the main raw material of MKPC,its reactivity and particle size have a significant impact on the performance of MKPC.This study tested the effect of long-term storage on MgO activity, then analyzed the effects of MgO on the setting time and compressive strength of MKPC.The results prove the ex-cellent storage-resistance performances of MgO.The reactivity is slightly elevated after long-term storage,as a result, stored MgO par-ticles with similar fineness used in the preparation of MKPC exhibit short initial setting time, rapid MKP formation, and high early strength. However, the long-term strength development is limited and may even lower than newly produced MgO.If the MgO particle size is below 30 μm,its reactivity increases after storage, leading to a further reduction in setting time, the long-term compressive strength of MKPC is higher than newly produced MgO.
