Abstract:Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose(HPMC)was employed as a modifier to systematically investigate its effects on foam properties, mechanical characteristics, and microstructure of foam concrete. The results demonstrated that HPMC effectively improved foaming agent performance. At a 0.10%dosage,the foaming multiple increased by 14.01%compared to the reference group, while the 1-hour sedimentation distance and bleeding rate decreased by 40%and 9.69%,respectively.Additionally,the proportion of bubble diameters in the 400~800 μm range increased by 7.31%.In the foam concrete system,a 0.15%HPMC dosage enhanced compressive strength by 19.93%,30.16%,and 11.39%at 3,7,28 d curing ages, respectively.Microstructural analysis revealed that 0.15%HPMC significantly optimized the morphology:porosity decreased from 63.74%to 57.11%,and the proportion of pore sizes in the 300~600 μm range increased from 26.89%to 50.39%.The study confirms that an HPMC dosage of 0.10%~0.15%achieves op-timal balance between foam stability and concrete mechanical performance.
