Abstract:This study investigated the relationship between the thermal transmittance(K-value)of asymmetric thin-chamber in-sulating glass(with a total thickness of 23 mm)and factors such as cavity thickness ratio, gas type, and glass configuration. The re-sults showed that when the gaps were filled with the same gas and the glass types were uniform(clear or Low-E),the lowest K-value occurred at a 1∶1 chamber ratio. When combining clear and Low-E glass, the minimum K-value drifted from 1∶1 and was lower than that of symmetric chambers. When the gaps were filled with different gases and the glass types were uniform(clear or Low-E),the gas arrangement had little effect on the K-value.When combining clear and Low-E glass, the lowest K-value deviated from the 1∶1 chamber thickness ratio, and was lower than the K-value obtained with symmetric chamber distribution using the same glass configuration.
