Abstract:To achieve the resource utilization of excavated soil generated during highway construction, this study conducted sampling and analysis on the excavated soil from a highway in Min County,Gansu Province. The results indicate that the total con-tent of SiO2,Al2O3,and Fe2O3 in the sample is around 85%.As the sintering temperature increases, the water absorption rate of the sintered samples decreases, and when the sintering temperature reaches 1200℃,the water absorption rate no longer changes. When the sintering temperature exceeds 800℃,the montmorillonite minerals in the sample begin to decompose. As the temperature rises to around 1000℃,the active Al2O3,SiO2,CaO,and MgO released from the decomposition of montmorillonite undergo a firing reac-tion,forming larnite. This process is accompanied by the rearrangement and densification of microscopic crystal particles, leading to a reduction in the porosity and water absorption rate of the sintered samples.Finally,volume-stable thin-walled products were fab-ricated via press forming and sintered within the temperature range of 1000℃.This demonstrates that the sample possesses excel-lent molding stability and sintering performance.
