Abstract:The shielding performance of the new radiation shielding concrete with special component was evaluated through gamma and neutron shielding tests. The results indicate that the concrete density significantly affects the shielding performance of both gamma and neutron rays.As the concrete density increases, the shielding performance improves markedly, with a greater enhancement observed for gamma rays. The shielding performance against gamma rays is positively correlated with the content of Fe elements, while the shielding performance against neutron rays is related to the content of H elements. When the concrete density is 3.5 g/cm3,the equivalent mass density of H elements is 0.02503 g/cm3,and the equivalent mass density of Fe elements is 2.129 g/cm3,the shielding performance of the radiation shielding concrete is optimal, and successfully applied in practical engineering.
