Abstract:The inner and outer mechanical behaviour of thin insulating glass with narrow chambers of 23~29 mm thickness under different wind loads was investigated. The feasibility of the experimental scheme and the reliability of the data were verified by statistical methods, and the effects of the chamber thickness, the thickness of the middle glass and the thickness of the inner and outer glass on the stress-deformation behaviour of the glass were evaluated. The results show that the chamber thicknesses(6、9 mm)and the centre glass thicknesses(1、2 mm)have a small effect on the stresses and deflections on the inner and outer sides of the glass, while the inner and outer glass thicknesses have a significant effect on the stresses and deflections in the range of 500~2000 Pa wind pressure. The insulating glass with both inner and outer glass thicknesses of 4 mm glass showed an increase of 32.6%and 25.0%in inner and outer stress values, and 66.6%and 55.8%in deflection, respectively, compared to the glass with both inner and outer glass thicknesses of 5 mm at 2000 Pa wind pressure. This study can provide a theoretical basis for the opti-misation of the wind pressure resistance design of thin insulating glass with narrow chambers.
