Abstract:The damage patterns, hysteretic properties, and energy dissipation mechanisms of the specimens were analysed by performing low circumferential reciprocation tests on unreinforced brick walls, reinforcing mesh cement mortar single-face reinforced brick walls, and MSHDC single-face or double-face reinforced brick walls. The test results show that MSHDC reinforced surfaces can effectively improve the damage pattern of the wall, compared with the sudden brittle damage of the unreinforced and reinforced mesh-cement mortar reinforced specimens, the cracks of the MSHDC surfaces reinforced specimens proceeded slowly, and the final damage of the wall was smaller. The MSHDC reinforced surfaces can effectively enhance the seismic performance of the wall.Compared with the unreinforced specimens, the peak load of the cement mortar single-faced reinforced specimens,MSHDC single-faced reinforced specimens, and MSHDC double-faced reinforced specimens were increased by 227%,95%,and 368%,respectively,the peak displacements were increased by 118%,30%,and 156%,respectively,and the energy consumption was increased by 362%,139%,and 434%,respectively
