Abstract:Using kaolin, talc, potassium feldspar, calcite and quartz as the main raw materials, and intact grain hulls as the pore-forming agent, the porous ceramic water-retaining bricks with low density were prepared by pressing and moulding and then fired, and the effects of grain hulls doping and firing temperature on the properties of porous ceramic water-retaining bricks were investigated. The physical phase, microstructure and local composition of the samples were characterized by XRD,SEM and EDS.The results showed that when the grain husk was doped with 30%and fired at 1020℃,the density of porous ceramic water-retain-ing bricks was 0.59 g/cm3,the porosity was 75%,the water retention rate was 72.62%,the average daily evaporation was 0.5mm/d,and the compressive strength was 2.26 MPa,and porous ceramic water-retaining bricks consisted of pores and skeleton, which contained small pores and formed SiO2 and Mg2Al4Si5O18 main crystal phase.
