Abstract:Magnesium Phosphate Cement(MPC)is a new type of early-strength and fast-hardening cement. It has attracted increasing attention due to its simple preparation method, good fire resistance and corrosion resistance,non-toxic and environmental protection. The MPC samples were prepared with MgO of different particle sizes. The hydration hardening process of MPC was characterized from the aspects of setting time, reaction heat, early strength, late strength and porosity, etc.Scanning electron mi-croscopy(SEM),energy spectrum analysis(EDS),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and porosity analysis(MIP)were employed to study the changes of material microstructure and composition. The results show that with the decrease of MgO particle size, the pore size of the MPC decreases, and the early compressive strength of the MPC increases. However, the porosity and late strength decreased first and then increased with the decrease of MgO particle size. Therefore,in order to control the hydration rate, early strength and late strength of magnesium phosphate material,400 mesh MgO powder with a specific surface area of 0.52 m2/g is the most suitable for MPC sample production.
