Abstract:To improve the emulsification performance of sodium lignosulfonate,a modified sodium lignosulfonate asphalt emulsi fier was prepared by grafting polymerization using an oxidation-reduction system composed of hydrogen peroxide/vitamin C(Vc)as the initiator. The effects of the reaction conditions on its low-temperature ductility were studied. The molecular structure of modified sodium lignosulfonate before and after modification was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, its emulsification performance was tested, and the particle size of emulsified asphalt was measured by laser particle size analyzer. The results showed that when the molar ratio of acrylic acid to triethylenetetramine is 1∶1,the mass ratio of sodium lignosulfonate to amide intermedi-ate is 1∶1,and the amount of initiator accounts for 1%of the total monomer mass, the modified sodium lignosulfonate has the best effect. The low-temperature ductility of the emulsified asphalt prepared from it can reach 72.3 cm,and the 5d storage stability can reach 1.2%,which is significantly improved compared to the unmodified asphalt.
