Study on the effect of PE wax on the property of asphalt and its function mechanism

Abstract：In order to confirm the application performance and the mixing quality of asphalt at low temperature,different kinds of PE wax and asphalts were selected and a few kinds of warm mixing modified asphalts were prepared. The effects of PE wax type and dosage on the high and low temperature properties were studied through using three indices test. The rheological property of PE wax modified asphalt was studied by Brookfield viscosity test. Finally,the warm mixing mechanism of PE wax on the asphalt was studied based on the SEM and FTIR analysis. The results show that the application of PE wax could improve the high temperature performance of asphalt,but has bad effect on the low temperature performance of asphalt. Meanwhile,PE wax could reduce the viscosity of asphalt and improve the rheological property of asphalt,which provide good technique for the low temperature construction of asphalt concrete.
