Effect of silicon powder on the properties of epoxy structural adhesive

Abstract：In order to develop epoxy structural adhesive for underwater and wet environment,it researched the effect of filler silicon powder on the properties of epoxy structural adhesive,and also tested the water soluble rate,water absorption and mechanical properties. The results showed that under certain conditions,with the increase of silicon powder content and fineness, the water absorption of epoxy structural adhesive is improved,but the water content and the bond strength first increases and then decreases. The effect of adding 800 mesh silica powder is greater than adding 400 mesh. With 400 mesh silica powder the compressive strength of epoxy structural adhesive strength first increases and then becomes stable,while with 800 mesh silica powder the epoxy structural adhesive compressive strength first increases and then decreases. The addition of micro silica will reduce the elongation at break.
