Analysis of local uniform compression of masonry based on Abaqus

Abstract：The local compression is one of the important contents in the design of masonry structures. However,there has been no new progress in its calculation theory for a long time. Based on the Abaqus software,the stress and the bearing capacity of masonry have been analyzed under the local uniform compression. The results show that the vertical stresses become small from the local compression face to the surrounding,to the depths,it occurred diffusion of force,the finite element method and compute according to GB 50003—2011 are in good agreement for the increase coefficient of the local compressive strength. The research re-sults can provide some basis for the improvement of the calculation theory of the local compression bearing capacity of masonry.
