Abstract:The feasibility of making thermal insulating and waterproof material from fly ash and abandoned plastic foams is discussed. The significance of economic and social benefits is also demonstrated. The primary engineering experiments show that thermal insulating and waterproof material for building roofs with good properties can be produced. The material contains more than 70 % of abandoned plastic foams in volume and more than 80 % of fly ash in weight. The material has good properties in thermal insulating, impermeability and durability. The total cost of the product can be lower 10% ~ 30 % with much better properties in comparison with the traditional thermal insulating layer+ waterproof layer+ protecting layer roofs.
