Forty patients of venereal emotional disorder treated with paroxetine hydrochloride
Abstract:BACKGROUND: Emotional disorder of venereal disease is one of thecommon psychological obstacle in the department of dermatology in generalhospital. Paroxetine hydrochloride tablet is efficacious for it.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the comprehensive effects of combined paroxetine hydrochloric tablet and psychotherapy on patients with emotional disorder of venereal disease in the department of dermatology in the general hospital.DESIGN: A self controlled trial.SETTING and PARTICIPANTS: The study was completely performed in Shenzhen Hospital, Peking University. Forty patients with pointed condyloma, or gonorrhea, , or nongonococcal urethritis in the department of derma-venereal disease, were evaluated according to hospital anxiety and depression scale (HAD). The patients whose score is over 7 were selected in the study, including 25 male and 15 female, aged 18 to 52 years old with mean age of 34.7.METHODS: Forty patients with emotional disorder were treated with psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy after the routine dermatological therapy, and HAD evaluation was done for three months consecutively to assess the effect.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: After the treatment with paroxetine hydrochloric tablet and psychological therapy for one, two and three months,the improvement of patient' s symptoms was observed.RESULTS: The symptoms of forty patients were improved after the combined treatment of psychological therapy and medication. The patients with negative scores of HAD were 23, 28 and 33 after one, two and three-month treatment respectively, and there were significant differences from those before treatment(x2 =4. 073, 9. 825, 18. 620, P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: The effect of the combined therapy was obvious for the patients with venereoneurosis after the routine dermatological therapy.
