Effects of 153Sm-EDTMP and bonefos on metastatic bone cancer pain
Abstract:AIM:To evaluate the effect of 153Sm-EDTMP or/and bonefos in the treatment of metastatic bone cancer. METHODS:All 60 patients with metastatic bone cancer were divided into three groups:153Sm-EDTMP group, bonefos group and 153Sm-EDTMP plus bonefos group. The total remission rates of the bone pain, effective rates of the bone lesion and the side effect were observed comparatively. RESULTS:The remission rates of bone pain were 80% , 85% and 90% in 153Sm-EDTMP group, bonefos group and 153Sm-EDTMP plus bonefos group respectively. There were not significantly different among the three groups(P >0.05).The effective rates of bone lesion were 20% , 10% and 50% in above three groups respectively. The effect of 153Sm-EDTMP plus bonefos group was significantly better than that of 153Sm-EDTMP or bonefos group (P< 0.05). The side affects of three groups were rare. CONCLUSION:153Sm-EDTMP plus bonefos is an effective and safe therapy progress for patients with bone pain caused by metastic bone carcinoma.
