Experimental studies of bone mass loss after ovariectomized and orchidectomized rabbits
Abstract:AIM: To study bone mass loss after rabbits being ovariectomized and beingorchidectomized.METHODS: Twenty-Four females and 24 males rabbits were selected in the study, 20 rabbits was performed orchidectomy and 20 rabbits ovariectomized,4 females and 4 males rabbits for control group. It were measured that Ca, P,AKP, Cr, BGP and HYP levels in serum on 4 weeks, 7 weeks and 10 weeks. It also were measured that BMC and bone morphological after sacrifice all rabbits .RESULTS: The Cr levels(μ moL/L) of OVX group were (82±4) and(78 ± 4) significantly higher than those of ORX group[ (66 ± 6) and (40 ±3), P < 0.01 ], but HYP and BGP decreased in 4 weeks and 7 weeks. Bone deposition velocity(BDV) of OVX group were faster than those of ORX group. The osteoid width(OW) of OVX group was wider than one of ORX group. There was a significant difference (P < 0.01).The bone mass loss is related with sex hormone deficiencyafter being ovariectomized. The orchidectomy affect bone mass in short time, there were a trend toward lower affecting in 7 weeks.
