Effect of Salvia miltiorrhiza on nerve regeneration after acute spinal cord injury in rats
Abstract:AIM: To research the function of Salvia miltiorrhiza on acute spinal cordinjury from the view of morphology.METHODS: Thirty six rats were divided into 3 groups: the normal control group, the lesion control group and therapy group . The rats with spinal cord injury were modeled and respectively injected with normal saline in the lesion control group and with Salvia miltiorrhiza in the therapy group. The morphological changes of the spinal cord were observed.RESULTS: The Vv values reached to 8.34 ± 0. 3 at 14 days. When the dose of Salvia miltiorrhiza increased to 2g/(kg @ d). The Vv value reached its peak. The myelin sheaths were discovered in Salvia miltiorrhiza group.Salvia miltiorrhiza can promote nerve regeneration after acute spinal cord injury in rats.
