Comparison observation of bone mineral content in patients with femoral neck fracture and healthy people
Abstract:AIM:To study the relationship between the osteoporosis and the femoral neck fractures. METHODS:Twenty femoral neck fractures patients were selected from 34 who were treated in 1990 to 2000. The study population included the 20 femoral neck fractures and(average age 63.7 years old) 20 control people(average age 68.4 years old), their bone mineral content(BMC, g/cm)and hydroxyproline(HYP) were measured in the study. RESULTS:It was showed that BC1,BMC, BMD and BC2 had significant difference(t=5.33,6.47,3.44,1.65 respectively, P< 0.01) comparing the control men with the control women.BMC had difference(t=3.52,P< 0.01) comparing the femoral neck fracture men with control men, BMC and BMD also had difference (t=4.21,3.86 respectively, P< 0.01) comparing the femoral neck fracture women with the control women.HYP is also high level in the femoral neck fracture women, there were difference comparing the female fractures with the male ones(t=11.1,P< 0.01). There were difference comparing the female fractures with the control ones(t=5.0,P< 0.01). CONCLUSION:It is a very usage method to measure elder people BMC or MD for preventing femoral neck fracture.
