Vitamin E prevents oxidation of protein in rats hippocampal neuronal cells
Abstract:AIM:To observe effect of Vitamin E on Alzheimer's disease and study oxidative damage to mouse hippocampal neuronal cells proteins and prevent effect of Vitamin E on oxidative damage. METHODS:Using oxidative stress(H2O2) and vitamin E pretreated plus oxidative stress(H2O2) to mouse hippocampal neuronal cell line(HT-22).Ox idized proteins by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis with silver staining and oxidation specific immunostains were measured. RESULTS:After oxidative stress 12 hours, survival rate markedly decreases to 31.19% .Cells survival rate nearly reached normal level after Vitamin E treatment followed by oxidation treatment. The number of oxidative proteins in H2O2-treated hippocampal neurons increased, while no increase was found in Vitamin E treated neurons. CONCLUSION:Vitamin E can prevent oxidation of neuronal cells in mouse.
