Invigorating qi and promoting blood effect of Astragalus membranaceus in animal model of blood deficient
Abstract：Aim To study effect of Astragalus membranaceus on enriching blood function in animal models of chemical and hemorrhagic blood deficient.Methods Myelosuppression were induced by cyclophosphamide(CTX) and acelyphenylhydrazine(APH)in rats;hemorrhagic blood deficient model was established by bleeding in mice.60 SD rats of 8 weeks old were randomly divided into 3 groups and the repair effect of Astragalus membranaceus at 1.1,3.3,10 g/kg.d(mice),0.7,2.3,7.6 g/kg.d(rats) in animal models of chemical and hemorrhagic blood deficientcy were observed.Results Astragalus membranaceus could significantly alleviate myelosuppression induced by CTX and APH in rats and elevate the level of peripheral blood cell(mainly red blood cells), DNA and nucleated cells in bone marrow in animal models of chemical and hemorrhagic blood deficiency. Conclusion Astragalus membranaceus have the functions of strengthening spleen, supplementing Qi, accelerating hematopoiesis and increasing peripheral blood cell.
