Treatment of parkinsonian tremor with microelectrode-guided posteroventral pallidotomy
Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of microelectrode guided posteroventral pailidotomy on parkinsonian tremor and ascertain the way of surgery to treat parkinsonian tremor. Method 79 patients with parkinsonian tremor underwent microelectrode-guided posteroventral pallidotomy. Tremor severity was measured on a patient-rated. 100mm Visual Analog Scale(VAS), both preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively. Result Tremor was improved by 50% in 68 patients(86.1%) and 62 patients(91.2%)of 68 patients in whom tremor-synchronous cell were recorded. This difference was significant(P<0.05). Conclusion After pallidotomy, tremor had been greatly improved.
