Assessment of expressed emotion in family members of schizophrenic patients in Beijing
Abstract:Objective To explore the classification of the expressed emotion in the family members of schizophrenic patients in Beijing. Method Using the Phillips' CFI -CV interview outline, 355 relatives out of 216 schizophrenic families were interviewed. Result 170persons were evaluated as high expressed emotion. The supervision level of the family was mainly to concern the patients actively. The relatives had little knowledge about mental illness. The patients have more experiences of suffering discrimination than the relatives, especially the female relatives. Conclusion The results of classification of expressed emotion in the family members of schizophrenic patients in Beijing are similar to the ones from abroad. The reason for that higher emotional over - involvement evaluation than the ones in domestic research report is probably because that the sample is mainly related to the downtown citizens. CFI- CV caused us to add new comprehending content to schizophrenic family, it can provide scientific data for psychological intervention of fanily members.
