Changes of ultra-echocardiography in stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients patients after long term domicilinary oxygen
Abstract:Objective To observe the changes of ultra-echocardiography in stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) with hypoxaemia after long term domicilinary oxygen therapy(LTOT).Methods Twenty two hypoxaemic patients with stable COPD were divided into two groups- LTOT group of 12 patients and control group of 10 patients.ultra-echocardiography were tested in both groups. Both groups received regular treatment and LTOT group received oxygen therapy ultraechocardiography were tested one year later. Results After one year, mean pulmonary artery pressure in the LTOT group declined.Others did not change significantly. But in the control group the load of right ventricle of the heart increased and the ratio of the inner diameter of left ventricle of the heart to right ventricle of the heart was significantly reduced. Conclusion Long term domiclinary oxygen therapy could reduce the load of the right heart and stabilize the construction and function of the ritght heart.
