The Value of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery(ERAS)Protocols in Improving Quality of Life(QoL)Following Prostate Fiducial Marker Placement for Prostate Cancer

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the value of the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery(ERAS)concept in im-proving the quality of life(QOL)of patients after the placement of gold fiducial markers(GFM)for image-guided ra-diation therapy(IGRT)in prostate cancer.Methods:This was a prospective study.A total of 360 patients who un-derwent GFM placement for prostate cancer IGRT at the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University from January 2018 to January 2024 were included.Multiple ERAS measures were implemented during the perioperative pe-riod of GFM placement.Postoperative QOL was evaluated through follow-up,and QOL was classified using the K-means algorithm.One-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)and LSD-t tests were used to compare the baseline data,including the implementation of ERAS measures and QOL,among different groups.The FP-Growth algorithm was employed to calculate strong association rules,with the implementation of ERAS measures as the antecedent and QOL as the consequent.The clinical application value of ERAS was evaluated based on the confidence of the strong association rules.Results:The average QOL score of the patients was(91.38±13.04).Based on the K-means algo-rithm,patients were divided into five groups:99～-105,94～98,87～93,83～86,and 78～82.There were no statisti-cally significant differences in baseline data among the five groups(all P>0.05),but there were significant differenc-es in the implementation of ERAS measures(all P<0.05).Five strong association rules were calculated,and QOL scores increased with the number of ERAS measures implemented.Postoperative pain control had the strongest asso-ciation and the greatest impact on QOL.Conclusion:The complete implementation of ERAS measures facilitates the recovery of patients after GFM placement for prostate cancer IGRT.The application of ERAS improves QOL and has significant clinical value for widespread adoption and promotion.
