Abstract:Objective:To assess the predictive value of non-contrast computed tomography to identify composi-tion of urinary calculi in children.Methods:88 children of urolithiasisadmitted to urological center of our hospital from January 2016 and July 2022 were retropectively analysed. All underwent non-contrastCT and composition of cal-culi was analysed as a single component. They were divided into calcium oxalate(n=53),ammonium urate(n=30)and uric acid group(n=5).Besides random urinary pH,value of core and borderstone CT,and Hounsfield density were measured and compared among three groups. Then ROC curve was used to evaluate its predictive value for com-position of calculi. Results:The age of patients was 0.25-13(5.0±3.8)years and 60 cases were male(68.2%).The values of core, border, mean stone CT and Hounsfield density in the calcium oxalate group were significantly higher than that of ammonium urateand uric acid group(P<0.05).However,there was no statistical differences in these in-dexes between ammonium urate and uric acid group(P>0.05).There was no statistical difference in random urinary-pH among the three groups(P>0.05).Area under the ROC curves for predicting stone composition by core, border, mean stone CT and Hounsfield density were 0.911,0.873,0.917,and 0.821,respectively.Conclusion:The value of non-contrast computed tomography can predict calcium oxalate stones with high accuracy, not ammonium urate and uric acid stone.Random urine pH value are not indicative for distinguishing between ammonium urate and uric ac-id stones.
