Flexible ureteroscopy combined with Holmium laser lithotripsy for solitary kidney calculi:Report of 15 cases

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the safety and therapeutic effect of flexible ureteroscopy with Holmium laser lithotripsy for solitary kidney calculi.Methods:1 5 cases of solitary kidney calculi after using flexible ureteroscopy with Holmium laser lithotripsy from June 2010 to June 2013 were reviewed.Results:The insertion of flexible uret-eroscopy was successful in 86.7%(13/15),and in 13.3%(2/15)cases in the second time 2 weeks later,the total success rate was 100%(15/15),and laser lithotripsy succeeded in 14 cases.Thirteen cases out of 15(86.7%)had stone clearance at 3 months post primary operation.The average operation time was 65 min (45-90 min).No serious complication occurred.Conclusions:Flexible ureteroscopy combined Holmium laser lithotripsy is safe and effective for solitary kidney calculi,and may offer advantages with respect to less invasion,rapid recovery and short hospitali-zation stay.
