Clinical utility of fluorescence in situhybridization in the diagnosis of upper tract urothelial carcinoma

Abstract:To-study-the-clinical-utility-of-a-fluorescence-in-situ-hybridization-(FIS-H-)assay-i-n-the-diag-nosis-of-upper-tract-urothelial-carcinoma-(UTUC-).Methods-:Voided-urine-speci-mens-from-1-44-patients-with-suspec-ted-upper-tract-urothelial-carcinoma-were-anal-yzed-by-means-of-FIS-Hassay.The-specificity-and-sensiti-vity-of-FIS-H-were-anal-yzed-on-the-basis-of-pathol-ogical-diagnosis-.Results-:Of-all-the-1-44-patients-,1-01-were-diagnosed-as-havi-ng-UTUC-.For-FIS-Hassay,the-sensitivity-was-54-.5-%-and-specificity-was-93-.9-%.Conclusions-:With-its-hi-gh-sensiti-vity-and-excellent-specificity-,FIS-Hassaymay-be-a-pro-misi-ng-ancillary-test-and-a-reliable-non-i-nvasi-ve-approach-to-the-di-agnosis-of-upper-tract-urothelial-carcinoma-.
