Abstract：To study the efficacy and safety of 1470 nm diode laser for the treatment of benign prostat-ichyperplasia (BPH).Methods :A total of 87 patients under went vaporization of the prostate using 1470 nm diode laser .The mean operative time ,blood loss ,the international prostate symptom score (IPSS),the score of life quali-ty ,bladder resi dual urine volume ,flow rate and ind welling catheterizati on time were recorded and analyzed .Results :All procedures were successfully performed by one operation .The operation time was (72 ±31 )min ,and blood loss (23 ±11)mL .No case needed blood transfusion ,and there was no TURP-related syndro me .The meanind welling catheterizati on time was (35 ±20 )h .Eighty-seven cases were followed up for 3 to 12 months .The IPSS was de-creased from preoperative (27.3±2.4)to (5.8±1.6).The QOL was decreased from preoperative (4.8 ±1.1 )to (1.7 ±0.4 ).The maximum flow rate was increased from preoperative (6.3 ±3.2 )mL/s to (19.8 ±2.1 )mL/s .The residualurine volume was decreased from preoperative (86.7 ±1 39.5 )mL to (29.3 ±5.1 )mL .All the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05 ).Conclusions :1470nm diode laser is safe ,efficacious and mini mally invasive for the patients of BPH .
