Enlightenment of traditional Chinese culture in Taiwan′s rural regions

Abstract：This study explores the root of Taiwan′s rural culture from agricultural and rural culture elements;discusses the necessity of developing cultural industries in rural areas,and its enlightenment for cross-strait agricultural relations development.This paper indicates that because of the lack of cultural enhancement,industrialization in Taiwan not only does not help to the development of agriculture,but also undermines the harmony of rural areas.The Chinese mainland should avoid similar situation to happen again,protect peasants′ work and living space,and provide employment opportunities for peasants in rural area.The Chinese mainland and Taiwan have different focus on agricultural issues,but all need a comprehensive supporting problem solving strategies and measures for ＂countryside-agriculture-peasantry＂ issue.From the long-term agricultural development and sustainable development perspective,the purposes of developing cultural industries in rural area are not only creating rural employment opportunities and boosting the confidence of rural residents for agriculture,but also shaping the new culture and values in the development process.Therefore,the Chinese mainland and Taiwan should regard agriculture as a ＂cultural industry＂,promote Chinese culture and traditions,and strengthen cultural exchanges and mutual visits.
